What to bring with you

When I was preparing to come up I always thought it would be helpful to have a vague list of what ot bring with me-- so, with the help of CUSU's Freshers' Guide, I've put the following one togther:

REALLY USEFUL

✔ Laptop or desktop PC (although there is a computer room with printer)
✔ Stationery
✔ Paper
✔ Alarm clock
✔ Coat hangers
✔ Dressing gown and slippers
✔ Extension lead, adaptor
✔ Toiletries
✔ Towels
✔ Dish Cloth & tea towel (although 1 per kitchen is provided)
✔ Kitchen Roll, tissues
✔ Washing powder, tablets
✔ Washing-up liquid (industrial stuff provided)
✔ Chargers and cables for all electronics
✔ Formal suit (guys) / smart dress (girls) - for matriculation and formals, black tie is only needed come May Ball time!

PAPERWORK

✔ Birth certificate
✔ Passport (driving license also useful for ID purposes)
✔ NHS card
✔ Medical details
✔ Paperwork relating to any financial assistance you’ve applied for
✔ National Insurance Number
✔ Insurance certificate (possessions, bike, musical instrument…)
✔ Passport photos (8 or so)

OPTIONAL (but useful)

✔ Bedtime reading/novels/DVDs
✔ Rugs, cushions etc.
✔ Bike, bike lock, helmet, lights
✔ Camera
✔ Favourite munchies
✔ Posters, pictures, photos
✔ Stereo, radio, decks
✔ TV (but you’ll need a license too) although we do have a massive TV in the JCR!
✔ Iron

FOOD

✔ Biscuits, cakes
✔ Emergency rations (baked beans, tinned soup, pasta, ...)
✔ Tea, coffee, hot chocolate, sugar
✔ Milk
✔ Squash, soft drinks
✔ Bottle opener, corkscrew
✔ Tin opener
✔ Crockery
✔ Cutlery
✔ Sharp knife
✔ Glasses, mugs

PROVIDED

✔ Bed linen
✔ Duvet
✔ Pillows
✔ Desk lamp
✔ Kettle
✔ Fridge (shared between half a staircase in each kitchen - you can put a small fridge in your room if you like)
